About

aKDPhi Nationally

aKDPhi was founded at the University of California, Berkeley in 1990 as an organization that would provide Asian-American women the opportunity to participate in Greek life. Through our five pillars of sisterhood, leadership, scholarship, service, and Asian-Awareness, aKDPhi strives to promote the success of Asian-American women and to provide them with the resources and sisterly support system they need to achieve their personal and professional goals.

alpha Kappa Delta Phi International Sorority, Inc. belongs under the umbrella council National APIDA Panhellenic Council (NAPA), which represents twenty Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi-American Greek letter organizations in the United States. NAPA works to unite the Asian Greek community through advocacy and collaboration, while addressing larger issues in society through cultural, philanthropic, and political events.

aKDPhi at JMU

The JMU Associate Chapter of aKDPhi was established in 2003 as the first and only Asian-interest sorority at JMU. Since then, our chapter has built a strong network of dedicated sisters that stay connected with each other, even after graduating. Although our Active House is small, we are still able to create a supportive and loving community for Asian-American women to connect with one another and help each other grow into the best versions of themselves.

As an Asian-interest sorority, aKDPhi is considered a cultural-based Greek letter organization. Our chapter is under the Intercultural Greek Council (ICGC), which represents all Black, Latin, and Asian-interest Greek letter organizations on JMU's campus. This is opposed to social fraternities and sororities, which are under the Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Council, respectively.
